Scuba is the alias of DJ and producer Paul Rose, founder of Hotflush Recordings. His early shows on pirate radio in London led to a close involvement with the beginnings of the scene that became known as dubstep. The debut Hotflush 12" hit the street in late 2003 and the label (and its sister label Scuba) has gone on to become one of the most distinctive and innovative dubstep labels. The Scuba sound has developed into a fusion of towering bass, electronic melodies and intense snares. Since 2005 he has released a slew of innovative tracks that defy the norm of the mainstream dubstep scene, on Hotflush and other labels including Soul Jazz. The sound continues to grow, with Hotflush and Scuba always at the cutting edge.
