Hey, Beggars and Beggarettes, Lovers Of Heartfelt Music, Body - Rockers and Rockerettes.
I dont` know if y`all heard of it yet, but there`s a Blockparty comin` atcha this Sunday, February 18. Beggar`s Deluxe and Selected Headz/Motor have moved to Club Camera (Neubaugasse 2) for a new event series by that name (Blockparty!).
So why Blockparty? Not because this actually a Bockparty in the sense of being an outdoors event like in those good ol` days when DJ Cool Herc built up his sound system and when Hiphop was birthed, but we want to run this party in that kind of spirit. All together building something special for YOU, YOU and YOU to be part of it. Good, original music brought to yall in an honest way.
We are not seeking suckxess, we just wanna move on to create a scene. There will be live-acts bringing you music from Hiphop to Funk, Dub/Reggae to Electronic to Jazz..pushing the levels, breaking the boundaries, opening up the mind and spirit to what should be accessible to all: beautiful music, music that speaks, music that lives, music that is the shape of things to come - to cite Ornette Coleman on that..
What else is this about? Generally having a good time, party with that quality touch but without pretending to be oh so artsy and sophisticated or whatever. Hell! The Beggarz iz still F.O.N.K.Y! and after all it`s about love for music, sharing that and not being afraid to get all grimey and sweaty on that dance-floor, namean?
The whole thing is starting off this Sunday, February 18 , and oh what have we got set up for you! I hope yall smothered and spoilt Vienna residents can appreciate this!
Live! all the way from Washington D.C. we will have Oddisee (Halftooth Records) performing his soulful, funky and self-produced blend of Hiphop. Plus he`s got his boys Trek Life from Southcentral L.A. (Timeless Music) and Unknown with him.
Yep, not enough though! There will be a special SURPRISE ACT from the Selected Headz camp of musical aggrovators. I shouldn`t tell y`all but it`s gonna be some crazy kinda mix of hiphop and jazz, just go there and let the music do the talking.
And now to the DJs : Allstar Game All The Way!!!
Zuzee a.k.a Zuzee Collins (Waxos) can`t touch him! Austrias BEST and Fonkiest!! If you ask me!
DJ Conikt (Think Loud Records) who is holding it down for Germany and also the owner of a record label and record shop in what used to be Eastern Germany living Hiphop 100%
DJ Emodee (Mental Crates) one of the illest crate diggers I have the honour to know!
Luis Figueroa (Bonanza) a.k.a. Louie Longhair! My boy!! This cat deserves some BIG TIME respect! Louie got soul yall!
And last but not least: DJ Madman (Electric Force Crew) If I dare say so; an old-school legend if there is something like that in Austria. This guy has been in the b-boy scene ever since I was just a little kiddo listening to Jacko and Kriss Kross. He will open it up for all the body rockin`, poppin and lockin` b-boys and b-girls.
Yeah, y`all might wonder, why Sunday?!
Well, we got to prove we DO rock, but if y`all help to build this ,can`t no one stop the Blockparty! And that`s what it`s about, fight for your right to party!! Get down! Keep it Real or Get Real again!
