David Guetta konnte einpacken. Air auch. Denn dieser Abend stand ganz und komplett im Zeichen von vier Pariser Turntablisten: Am 6. März holten sich Birdy Nam Nam beim französischen Musikpreis Les Victoires de la Musique doch ein wenig against all odds, aber absolut verdient die Auszeichnung in der Kategorie Electronic/Dance. Der Wermutstropfen, zumindest für uns im Lager Pola-Riot: an selbigem Tag hätten zwei der vier Monsieurs ursprünglich auch im Zuge unseres Flex-Einstands auftreten sollen.
Aber aufgeschoben ist, na Sie wissen schon … Jedenfalls werden die Herren Little Mike und Crazy B nun eben unsere Geburtstagsfeier – falls jemand fragt: es ist jetzt auch schon der dritte – beschallen. Umso besser. Das Credo des Abends dürfte sich aber weiterhin von ihrer aktuellen, von Genre-Koryphäen wie Yuksek und Justice mitproduzierten Platte ableiten: „Manual For Successful Rioting“. Oh yeah!

DJ Krush's erstes, legendaeres Album Krush setzte neue Massstaebe im experimentellen Hip Hop, Triphop und Downbeat Bereich. Sein zweites immens erfolgreiches Soloalbum Strictly Turntablized wurde auf dem Londoner Mo'Wax Label veroeffentlicht und machten Krush und seinen Labelkollegen DJ Shadow, zu den Wegbereitern des Downbeat / Trip Hop.
1999 wechselte DJ Krush zu Sony-BMG, auf dem er mittlerweile ebenfalls zwei Alben und seine brandneue Live-DVD veroeffentlicht hat. Auch als Remixer und Producer ist Krush taetig, so hat er z.B. Tracks fuer The Roots produziert und mit Guru von Gang Starr, DJ Shadow, Mos Def und Dj Cam zusammengearbeitet.
Aber dass DJ Krush nicht nur im Studio abgehen kann, beweist er regelmaessig auf seinen DJ-Livesets, bei denen er sowohl seine Turntable-Kuenste zeigt, als auch alle moeglichen anderen Klangquellen wie Livepercussion einsetzt und Samples mit einbaut. Der Stil von Dj Krush laesst sich aber in keine Schublade schieben, da er auf jedem Album seinem Sound eine andere Note gibt.
Allein seine japanische Herkunft vergisst er dabei offenbar niemals: die klassischen japanischen Melodien sind auch in seinen Tracks immer mindestens so praesent wie Einfluesse aus Soul, Jazz oder elektronische Sounds.
